In honor of National Migrant Workers’ Day, Sun Life Philippines recently concluded the Global Pinoy Health and Financial Wellness Day, a whole-day celebration in collaboration with the Blas F. Ople Policy Center and Training Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the rights and welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). The event highlighted Sun Life’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and future of OFWs.

The Global Pinoy Health and Financial Wellness Day kicked off with the launch of Sun Life’s newest product, Sun Life OFW Health Protect. This is the first health insurance solution specifically designed for OFWs and their loved ones.

Luther Calderon, Senior Consultant of Blas F. Ople Policy Center and Training Institute; Estelle Ople Osorio, President of Blas F. Ople Policy Center; Carla Gonzalez-Chong, Chief Client Experience and Marketing Officer of Sun Life Philippines; Daureen Andal, Chief Product Solutions Officer of Sun Life Philippines; and Cary Casipit, Head of Client Segment Marketing of Sun Life Philippines

The event followed with the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing between Sun Life and the Blas F. Ople Policy Center. This collaboration aims to explore ways to help OFWs achieve financial security and come home to the Philippines for good. To further establish the partnership, Sun Life presented the Blas F. Ople Policy Center with its original board game, Play for Life: A Game of Choices. The version given was designed specifically for OFWs, as it aims to impart financial literacy in a fun and engaging way.

Following the MOA signing, the event concluded with the Global Pinoy Health and Financial Wellness Day expo. This served as a platform to empower both land-based and sea-based OFWs, as well as their families, through health and financial education, while celebrating their aspirations, resilience, and vital role in the nation’s economic growth.

“Our collaboration with the Blas F. Ople Policy Center and Training Institute is a testament to our shared vision of creating a more secure and prosperous future for OFWs,” said Carla Gonzalez-Chong, Chief Client Experience and Marketing Officer of Sun Life Philippines. “By combining our expertise, we can develop more holistic solutions that address their evolving needs, from financial literacy to reintegration programs.”

Estelle Ople Osorio, President of the Blas F. Ople Policy Center, added, “We are truly grateful for our partnership with Sun Life, which empowers us to expand our reach and better equip OFWs and their families with the financial knowledge and tools they need for a more secure and well-rounded future.”

The event was attended by Carla Gonzalez-Chong; Daureen Andal, Chief Product Solutions Officer of Sun Life Philippines; Cary Casipit, Head of Client Segment Marketing of Sun Life Philippines; Estelle Ople Osorio; Luther Calderon, Senior Consultant of Blas F. Ople Policy Center and Training Institute; and Hans Leo Cacdac, Secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers.
