Mekeni Food Corporation continues to fulfill its commitment to provide a safer and healthier workplace for its employees by inoculating almost 80% of its workforce during a one-day vaccination rollout.

Through Mekeni’s partnership with the Provincial Government of Pampanga and the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (PamCham), around 860 employees received their first dose on September 10, 2021. The vaccination was held at Mekeni’s head office in Porac, Pampanga.

Prior to this, almost 200 Mekeni employees were vaccinated under the same initiative during the initial run of its vaccination program last July.

According to Mekeni President Prudencio Garcia, the activity symbolizes that the company supports the provincial government of Pampanga’s mission to stop the spread of the virus and to help businesses in the province recover from the pandemic.

“We’re grateful to Gov. Delta and PamCham for extending this support to us. We’re also thankful and proud of our employees who participated in this activity. We’re doing this not just to keep ourselves and our families safe, but because we acknowledge that this plays an important role on our road to recovery,” said Garcia.

For this purpose, Mekeni held a Facebook contest for its employees to promote public awareness on vaccination and to support the Pampanga LGU in its mission to normalize the communities and the economy in the province. The #AlagangMekeniLigtasKami generated more than 10,000 likes and reactions on social media.

Mekeni encourages its employees to get vaccinated. Last May, the company held a vaccine information briefing to its employees to explain the role of the vaccine in curbing the effects of COVID.

Mekeni employees wait in queue to be vaccinated.

“Our goal is to vaccinate majority of our employees, if not 100%, before the year ends. At the start of the year, we’re already encouraging them to get vaccinated as soon as they can. Now that we’ve started rolling out this program with Gov. Delta and PamCham, we are confident and certain that Mekeni will be a safer workplace to all our stakeholders,” said Marilou Uy, Vice President for Human Resources Department and Exports.
