In response to the continuous rise in fuel prices and basic commodities, Caritas Manila extended much-needed assistance to communities heavily affected by the ongoing economic challenges.
A total of **176 tricycle and jeepney drivers** from Pandacan, Manila received ₱2,000 worth of gift certificates**, aimed at helping them provide for their daily food and essential needs. For many of these drivers, whose livelihoods have been directly impacted by increasing fuel costs, the support came as a timely relief.
The initiative, titled “Sa Harap ng Hirap… Habag” Gift Certificate Distribution, was held yesterday at the Caritas Manila Multi-Purpose Building. Beneficiaries included members of the **Pandacan Drivers Association (PANDASS)** and the **Pandacan Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (PATODA)**—groups that represent hardworking drivers striving to make ends meet despite current challenges.
More than just financial assistance, the program served as a reminder that compassion and solidarity remain alive, especially during difficult times. Caritas Manila continues to hope that it can extend help to even more families in need.
Also present during the ceremony was Fr. Antonio Cecilio T. Pascual, Executive Director of Caritas Manila, who continues to lead efforts in extending aid to vulnerable communities.
However, the organization also emphasizes that its capacity to reach more communities depends greatly on the generosity of donors. With this, Caritas Manila calls on individuals, groups, and organizations to lend their support—so that more families may receive immediate aid and renewed hope.
