The Ateneo Science and Art of Learning and Teaching (SALT) Institute will offer 200 teachers from 12 private school systems the Adaptive Design for Learning (ADL) Professional Certificate Course as a result of a newly inked agreement with the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC).

The agreement was signed last December 17, 2020 by Ateneo de Manila University President Fr. Roberto Yap SJ and PEAC Executive Director Rhodora Angela Ferrer.

“Now more than ever, schools need to be innovative, creative, and open to new ideas to ensure that no teacher or learner is left behind. Ateneo de Manila hopes that our partnership with PEAC would help schools address the needs of educators, formators, and students as we all try to create a “better normal” and plan for a post-pandemic world,” Yap said.

“The pandemic calls us not just to overcome the current challenges it poses for schools, but to reimagine the future of teaching and learning. Imagination and re-imagination should be in the DNA of all schools,” Ferrer added.

Through this partnership, the program can be implemented in a more impactful manner as entire school systems instead of individual teachers can directly benefit from the program.

Participants in the ADL course will come from lesser-resourced private school systems which have been prioritized in a selection process that was made possible by the VTL Teacher Education Endowment Fund.

The ADL Course is an asynchronous project-based program for educators who want to learn online course design and delivery. The program helps educators design online distance learning programs that help students learn through enriching experiences.

The ADL program was borne out of Ateneo’s effort to migrate to online learning last summer. Since then, nearly 3,000 educators have already undergone the professional certificate course. Just this last October, Ateneo also signed an agreement with the Philippine Science High School System to train around 500 teachers of Pisay in ADL.
